Application for the 2023 Zonta Club of Mount Pleasant Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award is now open. To be eligible, applicants must be between 16 and 19 years old, have an active commitment to volunteerism, leadership achievements, and experience in local or student government. One local winner will receive $500 and be eligible to compete for one of 37 Zonta International $5,000 scholarships. Applications are due to the Zonta Club of Mount Pleasant by Friday, March 10, 2023, and are available at: http://www.zonta.org/YWPAAward The Zonta Club of Mount Pleasant also offers a scholarship for a female pursuing a STEM degree. The ACE ScholarshipThe Alma College Community Engagement (ACE) scholar program offers up to 10 full-tuition awards annually to graduating high school seniors from Gratiot, Isabella and Montcalm counties. The ACE scholar program aims to foster a sense of belonging, while encouraging student reflection about civic responsibility as a form of vocational exploration, as well as create a sustainable relationship between Alma College and local community partners.
Each recipient will create an individualized plan for completing their community engagement, meet and collaborate with Center for College and Community Engagement staff and supervising Americorps VISTA, and reflect on the experience at the end of each semester.
